I got the best phone call last night from my friend Marie, with Hands on Sweets. Marie had heard some news that reminded her of the Tampa Creative Collective. She was excited & kept using words like opportunity and potential. It got me thinkin' & then reflecting on Creative Collective.
The deal is that Tampa Creative Collective came from a desire for community and fun times. It started in August of 2014 & we've gathered 5 times so far. Not such a huge deal, but not a tiny one either. We've had cocktails, made ice cream sundaes, learned Instagram tips from pro photographers, threw a potluck, and decorated holiday cookies. Shared laughs, food, support, and friendship. Each time, there are newcomers and familiar faces and each time I'm completely thrilled and overjoyed that people dig it. I go home debating what the little group means, and what it can mean in the future.
Does it mean that we should have a Facebook group for easy communication and RSVPing to events? Do I need to make a website? Should we have a way to become a member? Should we change the name so there's less syllables (too many syllables!!!!)
I honestly have no idea at this point but I know I love it and love all those faces that show up each month, so I'll be thinking on it & will definitely let you folks know if there's any sort of not-so-formal-still-crazy-fun-formalization that comes about.
In the meantime, here are some hi-lights from our shindigs::
